How To Add Collagen Into Your Routine & Why You Need It

Collagen. Collagen. Collagen.

 

So you've heard of it, but you're not sure why you need it? Or what it even is? Or does?

 

Here's the breakdown :

 

You may have seen me using collagen on my Instagram stories from time to time and it's because collagen is AMAZING for healthy hair, skin, nails, bones and joints. It plays a major role in all connective tissue in the body.

 

Basically, the more collagen you have, the better you will look AND feel.

 

Sounds perfect, right?

 

The brand I love to get my collagen from, and highly recommend, is Vital Proteins. Their collagen peptides come from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine hides and their marine collagen is sourced from wild-caught, non-GMO Red Snapper.

 

If you want long hair, strong nails, skin elasticity, and healthy bones and joints... it's time to eat collagen.

 

It's even known to boost metabolism, increase energy, detox the body and improve liver health. It seriously is a VITAL protein. As we age, the body naturally slows down the production of collagen so putting it back into our body is extremely important and majorly beneficial.

I love to mix it in my smoothies, oatmeal, or coffee in the morning. It's quick, easy and efficient. I highly recommend using the collagen peptides because they are odorless and tasteless so you literally won't even notice you added it into your daily routine, but you'll still be taking in all the benefits.

 

Using the unflavored stick packs has been a game changer for me because I like to throw one in my bag on my way out the door and try to mix it into whatever I am eating or drinking throughout the day. So convenient. 

 

Other ways to incorporate collagen into your diet :

 

+ Tea.

The unflavored peptides would be perfect in tea.

 

 

+ Coffee.

Okay, so along with using the peptides, Vital Proteins also makes a collagen coffee creamer. I mean, what more could you want?

 

 

+ Smoothies.

I mentioned these above, but I want to dive a little deeper because there are so many different kinds of smoothies you can make; which can also change what kind of collagen you might want to use.

 

When I make my Peanut Butter Protein smoothies, I love to use the Vanilla & Coconut Water flavored collagen peptides. It gives my smoothie such a good flavor. Or if you're doing more of a fruit and greens smoothie, I totally recommend the Collagen Beauty Greens, which contains collagen ( obviously ), hyaluronic acid ( great for anti-aging ), probiotics and 2 servings of raw organic greens!

 

 

+ Water.

This is where Collagen Beauty Waters come in to play. I haven't personally tried these yet, but I'm dying to try the Strawberry Lemon Beauty Water.

 

 

+ Pre-workout or Post-workout 

Collagen is so incredible for bones and joints so if you can ingest it before or after a workout, your body will seriously thank you.
