Toasty Tartine Recipe

For those of you who might not know, "tartine" means open-faced sandwich in French - & I love them!

 

Take my goat cheese & pineapple recipe for example. To me, it's like a regular sandwich but 2x as fun with half the bread.

 

This recipe is a major twist on a ham & cheese toasty. You still toast the ham & cheese but add tons of fun & healthy ingredients.

This is what you need :

 

+ Bread ( I prefer 15 grain by Pepperidge Farm )

 

+ Meat ( Virginia Brand ham sliced THIN & hard salami )

 

+ Cheese ( I like to switch it up )

 

+ Lettuce ( I'm a romaine heart or nothing kinda girl )

 

+ Avocado

 

+ Lemon juice

 

+ Olive oil

 

+ Ground flax seed

 

+ Chia seed

1. Take two slices of bread and slice them in half, lightly drizzle with olive oil, add ground flax seed, then top with meat and cheese.

 

2. Toast in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees.

 

3. Place the romaine in between the bread and the meat.

 

4. Top with sliced avocado, drizzle lemon juice and finish with chia seeds!

 

SO simple. 

 There are so many healthy ingredients involved but it barely takes any time at all to make! Think of it as a classier, healthier and yummier ham & cheese sandwich.

 

I love it because I'm getting fiber from the flax seed & bread, protein from the meat, greens from the lettuce, healthy fat from the avocado, vitamin C from the lemon juice, Omega-3s from the chia seeds, & TONS of benefits from olive oil such as antioxidants, healthy fat, anti-inflammatory properties, etc.

 

Plus all the flavors work really well together!
